Pre-School (3 – 5 years)

 

We concentrate on preparing children for their next steps into school and life. Social growth and a developmental approach to academics are addressed throughout the year.

Meet our Teachers

  • Jean Chernicoff

    I’ve been working here since 1990 when our family moved to Harrisburg from the Chicago. Besides 25 years of working with Pre-K, I have also taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade. I attended the University of Rochester and Beaver College. I received my Masters in Special Education from Temple University. My husband is a practicing Oncologist and we became proud grandparents for the 1st time this summer

  • Corrine Killien

    I graduated from Temple University in 1976. I received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been working at the JCC for 27 years. I live in the Etters with my husband and daughter. I also have 4 spoiled dogs and 3 spoiled cats-HAHA! In my spare time, I enjoy swimming in my pool, spending time with my family and friends and watching Penn State football.

  • Melissa Koenig

    I graduated from Penn State in 2001 receiving BS in Human Development & Family Studies, and for the past 10 years I have worked here. I like working with the children because you can play all day & teach them new things. It is amazing to watch them play, develop friendships, & grow into great kids. I live in the Harrisburg area with my husband and children, and a dog.

  • Jodie Raffensperger

    I am native of Harrisburg and attended Penn State studying to be an art teacher. I live on a 70 acre organic farm with my husband. While teaching Hebrew High and working at another school I was asked teach here. I went back to school to earn my Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, graduating Phi Theta Kappa and winning Outstanding Student Award. I teach Hebrew school and art classes.

  • Chana Tillman

    I moved to Harrisburg 7 years ago with my family.I began working in the ELC part-time. Fast forward to today where I am a full time teacher for the Turning 4’s. I have been a preschool teacher for over 20 years. I received my Associates degree from Delaware County. I love to bake and cook. Working in ELC with the Turning 4’s not only keeps a smile on my face but keeps me young at heart too!
