The Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Harrisburg condemn the undemocratic actions at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021. This attempt to prevent a smooth transition of power was rooted in extremism and displayed symbols of hate and anti-Semitism. As Americans, we hold our democratic systems and values dear, and the unlawful occupation and destruction was an assault on every citizen.

 

As an organization grounded in the Jewish values of tzedakah (justice/charity), chessed (acts of loving kindness), areivut (mutual responsibility), and tikkun olam (repairing the world), we are committed to working together and with our neighbors to promote understanding and tolerance.
